The music video of K-Pop girl group Black Pink’s new song “As If It’s Your Last” is now the second most viewed online video by a Korean act in the first 24 hours. It failed to dethrone the music video of “Gentleman” by Psy.
Black Pink’s “As If It’s Your Last” was released on June 22, Thursday. Its music video was posted on YouTube on the same day and was viewed more than 13.3 million times within that day.
“Gentleman” was released on April 13, 2013. Within the 24 hours after release, the music video of the song was viewed more than
18.9 million times on YouTube and no other online video by a Korean act has done better than that so far.Another record the “Gentleman” music video currently holds is the YouTube record for fastest music video to reach 100 million views, having achieved it in less than one week. The music video of “As If It’s Your Last” still has a few days to beat that.
Before that happens, “As If It’s Your Last” has already proven success. It ranked first on the iTunes Worldwide Singles Charts in 15 countries.
It was Seo Hyeon Seung who directed the “As If It’s Your Last” music video, according to Korea Herald. The director previously worked on Black Pinks’ respective second and third songs “Boombayah” and “Playing With Fire,” which were released in 2016.
Black Pink released four songs in 2016. The other two were “Whistle” and “Stay,” which were the respective first and fourth songs by the K-Pop girl group.

“Stay” was released on Nov. 1, 2016. After “Stay,” Black Pink did not release any new song until the recent release of “As If It’s Your Last.”This makes “As If It’s Your Last” a comeback song of Black Pink girls namely Kim Ji Soo, Jennie Kim, Roseann Park and Lalisa Manoban. The respective stage names of the four K-Pop girls are Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa.
YG Entertainment formed Black Pink on Aug. 8, 2016. It was the first K-Pop girl group of the entertainment agency after 2NE1, which has already disbanded.
In a statement obtained by The Chosun Ilbo, YG Entertainment described “As If It’s Your Last” as a “fast-paced, upbeat song.” The agency said Black Pink’s new song will be “a refreshing blast to relieve the summer heat.”
